Resources for night photography

I’ve been studying up on night photography for an upcoming workshop. And I’ve been learning a lot. So I thought I’d share some of the resources I’ve been tapping.

Photographing the Northern Lights by Patrick Endres. This ebook is well worth it’s $24 price tag. Not only do you get a wealth of information and useful tips about photographing the northern lights and night photography in general, there’s also scads of information on auroras themselves as well as how to go about finding them. Thanks to Dee for steering my toward this book.

Nightscape by David Kingham. Another valuable ebook from the folks and Craft&Vison

David’s website also has a lot of good information, including a list of iPhone/iPad and Android apps for night photography. I’d actually like to take one of his workshops!

A few apps that I’ve tried and like (for iOS) are:
Photographer’s Ephemeris
SkySafari
Dark Sky Finder
PhotoPills
