News from Rod Barbee Photography
October 2020

Greetings,

There's not a  whole lot going on since my last newsletter. In that one, I pretty much laid out what's coming in 2021. You can read it here if you missed it.

Speaking of that, I archive all my newsletters! That means you can go back in time and read about our house and yard projects, about the adventures with my much missed Bailey dog, and perhaps even find something about photography.

The newsletter archives are here.

So this month, since autumn is here, with your indulgence I thought I'd just share some of my favorite fall color pictures.

Zion National Park

After Olympic National Park, Zion is my favorite national park. I especially enjoy visiting in the fall which, for the color, means late October into early November.
Zion National Park
This image came from the park's east side. It's at a higher elevation and you can usually find more reds on this side of the park.
Waterfall in Zion
These two come from Zion Canyon. On the left, this waterfall in the Temple of Sinewava will appear after a heavy rain. I've seen it happen a couple of times over the years. If it rains heavily in Zion, get up the canyon so you can see this.

The other is a Cottonwood in full fall color.

The Willamette Valley

I really enjoy visiting the wineries in Oregon's Willamette Valley in October. There's nothing better than getting to the vineyards for early photography and then visiting the tasting rooms for the Pinot noir.Grape vines in the fall

Silver Falls State Park, Oregon

Silver Falls is the largest state park in Oregon and is very photogenic any time of the year. But autumn....Wow! Fall color is hard to beat. You'll find color near the falls and color in the parking lot. It's easy to get to, the falls are relatively easy to hike to and the possibilities are many.

Getting out

As everyone else out there, I've missed going to some of these amazing places. But I'll still get out to see what I can find. Amazingly enough, I've never been to the Hoh River in Olympic National Park in the fall. That's mainly because I'm usually somewhere else during late September and October. I wonder what those big maples will look like.

Stay well everybody.
