News from Rod Barbee Photography
August 2020

Greetings,

Hi all. Not a lot going on here other than yard projects. Just in time for our summer heat too. Oh boy.

I do have updates on some postponed trips. Do do be sure to read on!

Workshop and Tours rescheduled

Sunrise, Hurricane Ridge
John Barclay and I have rescheduled our Olympic National Park and Aurora tours to 2021
Olympic National Park has been rescheduled to July 11-18, 2021. There are now four spaces available.

Our two aurora tours to Yellowknife in Canada’s Northwest Territories are scheduled for Sept. 3-10 and Sept. 10-17. There are three spaces open in the Sept. 3-10 tour. The other is currently sold out.

If you are interested in any of these tours, contact John Barclay to either sign up for the open spots, or be put on the waiting list in the case of the sold out Sept. 10-17 aurora tour.

Palouse 2021

My Palouse 2021 workshop, co-led with Cliff Zenor, is set for June 15-20, 2021 and is open for registration.

As you may have read in my Palouse workshop report, because of market forces a lot of canola was planted this year and, from what I was told, a lot will be planted next year too. I’m looking forward o overdosing on canola again.

Yet another Out of Chicago event

Later this month, Out of Chicago will be conducting  and "all-new, interactive and creative experience."
Chris and the gang at Out of Chicago do a wonderful job, so if your photo workshop itch needs scratching, check it out here.

In closing

I have to admit that I haven’t done much photographing in the past few months, what with the shut downs and all. My wife and I did make the mistake of attempting a spur of the moment trip up to Hurricane Ridge. On a Saturday. Late in the morning.
The line leading up to the entrance station was so long and slow moving that we just gave up.
I usually go up to Hurricane Ridge for a sunrise, and delays at the entrance station, along with parking at the top of the ridge, are never an issue. No matter, we had a nice drive anyway and it was still good to get out of the house.

Hopefully, my planned trip to photograph the Milky Way from Ruby Beach will happen later this month. Keeping my fingers crossed for at least one clear night.

And that's all I really have. Stay safe everybody. I'll just leave you with another picture from Olympic National Park: a rather amazing sunrise from Hurricane Ridge a few years ago, about this same time of year.
